CLASS LOGISTICS/GENERAL INFO
PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME FOR CLASS. PreK coaches try to wait until most of their students are here to get started, and that can set the schedule back for the rest of the day. (More info about lateness policy for SchoolAge students below!)
All Tiny Tots begin on the lower floor; most other classes will meet in the upstairs bleachers, however AcroFitness, Capoeira and Parkour classes may begin downstairs – please confirm with your coach.
Bathrooms are located behind the east side of the bleachers or downstairs on the lowest floor. There is a changing table in the downstairs restroom -PLEASE use it!
Personal belongings can be left in the bleachers or in the lockers downstairs during class time. You are welcome to put your own lock on one of the lockers but
please remove it at the end of the session
.
Lost and Found clothing is kept on the lower front (west) staircase landing. Clothes not claimed by the end of the session will be donated to Goodwill. Small items such as jewelry and keys are kept in the office.
The office is not currently staffed during Sunday morning classes, and after the first week, will not be open until 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays. Coaches will check in make-up students at this time and assist you with scheduling any make-up classes during class times when the office is closed.
Parents/caregivers of children under the age of 6
need to stay in the building for the duration of your child’s class
. No exceptions. Please also stay attentive to your child’s class in case a coach needs your assistance.
Parents other than those of Tiny Tots may observe from the bleachers upstairs, and from seating areas downstairs. Please use only the front (west) stairs to move between floors.
Sick students should stay home
! This will give you time to recuperate, and prevent spreading illness to other students in the gym. You can make-up one missed class this session (Adults can make up up to 3, pending availability - see more below).
When waiting on the lower floor with children, please do not allow them on mats or other equipment. Please note that the line of seating & tables around the lower floor is also a safety barrier; do not jump over it. When you are in the building with children of any age, please keep them under constant supervision.
Please help us to reduce noise in the gym; keep conversations low and cell phones on vibrate so students and coaches may concentrate. Yelling to or at students or coaches across the gym floor is not acceptable, and can compromise class safety. If you wish to discuss a matter with a coach, please do so after class.
Siblings of Tiny Tots who are here during class time and not in a class themselves need to
stay in the toy area
on the lower floor, or
sit
in the upstairs bleachers. They cannot join the Tiny Tots class, roam the building or play on any mats or equipment. It is greatly preferred that they be supervised by an adult (one not participating in the Tiny Tots class) if it isn’t possible for them to stay in these areas on their own.
Parents/caregivers of Tiny Tots are asked to please refrain from using your cell phone, or having extended conversation with other parents during class time so you can focus attention on your child & the class.
Please wait for class to start in designated areas – the toy & book area on the lower floor, or in the upstairs bleachers – and do not use any equipment before or after class time.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO ONE ALLOWED ON ANY EQUIPMENT AT ANY TIME EXCEPT WHEN IN A CLASS BEING SUPERVISED BY A COACH
.
This policy applies to adults as well as children
; please do not get on any equipment by yourself or with your child in between classes, even “just for a few minutes.”
MAKE-UP POLICIES
PreSchool and School-aged students can make up ONE class in Fall session (adults can make-up up to 3, pending availability). However,
we do not guarantee make-ups
; it is highly recommended that you schedule make-up classes as early in the session as possible, as availability becomes greatly limited later on.
All Pre-K make-ups can be viewed and reserved online
!** These make-up offerings are actually other students’ spaces that have been offered for other students to use as make-ups; these are dates that students already know they’ll be missing.
At any time in the session if you become aware of classes your child may miss, please inform the office staff, and we will post them to the registration website for you
. You can call (415)665-2276 or email
info@acrosports.org
to let us know about times you know your child will be missing class. Make-ups can also be scheduled in another day/time of your child’s class if that class is not full; please talk to someone in the office to schedule a make-up in if you cannot find a viable option online.
All other SchoolAge students can make up through one of the open gym make-ups offered toward the end of the session, or attend a different section of their current class (pending availability); please call the office at (415)665-2276 to schedule.
Adults can schedule make-ups in another class of equal or shorter duration than your regular class; please call the office to schedule. Adult students can also make up in a Sunday Floor Workout (please note we can not accommodate aerial work in Floor Workout).
PLEASE NOTE THAT A “NO SHOW” TO A SCHEDULED MAKE-UP IS CONSIDERED A “USED” MAKE-UP
. When you reserve a make-up space, that space is held for you alone and no other student can use it; therefore we ask that if you need to reschedule or cancel, to do so no less than 24 hours in advance. If you cancel in less time than this or simply do not show, the make-up will be considered forfeited.
FOR ALL SCHOOLAGE STUDENTS (Ages 6+)
Students should be dressed appropriately and ready at the start of class. Students should sit on the east side (on the right as you are facing the gym floor) of the dividing line of the bleachers; parents and others should sit on the west side in order to facilitate smooth traffic flow between classes.
Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may not participate in class
, but may stay and observe. This is for safety – late arrivals will have missed crucial warm-up time - as well as to prevent disruptions.
If you are late getting your child here, it is highly recommended that you accompany him/her into the building to assure that it is not too late to attend. If you know you may have trouble arriving on time regularly, please inform your child’s coach.
Gymnastics and other physical activities that a student may not be accustomed to can cause sore muscles. This is normal, and should not cause undue alarm for you or your child. If you have any questions or concerns about excessive soreness, talk to your child’s coach.
If your child is coming here directly from school or another activity, and you are concerned s/he may get hungry, you can purchase a Snack Card in the Big Top Shop that your child can use to buy nutritious sustenance while here!
FLOOR POLICIES
No shoes, food, or gum allowed on the gym floor.
Appropriate attire must be worn (see below).
Parents should only come down to the gym floor if invited by your child’s coach. Exceptions to this can be made for preschool children who are having difficulty acclimating the first few weeks of the session.
WHAT TO WEAR
Students should wear comfortable clothing to allow for full movement. Leotards, bike shorts, sweats or leggings and a t-shirt are all OK; we have a selection of biketards for sale in the Big Top Shop. Please do not wear tights; trampolines and bars can be slippery; bare feet are the safest. Leave socks and shoes in the bleachers or in lockers downstairs.
Long hair must be tied back. No big hair-ties or barrettes: these are uncomfortable when doing forward and backward rolls. Remove all jewelry before class.
NO JEANS
- jeans can be unsafe for this sort of physical activity and can damage equipment;
students arriving for class wearing jeans will not be able to participate.
SchoolAge students not dressed appropriately for class may be asked to sit out for safety reasons. A collection of class-appropriate clothes is kept in the bleachers for students to borrow if they forget their own, though availability & sizes are limited.
COACHES
Please feel free to speak with your or your child’s coach if you have any concerns; however, please note that coaches often teach 2 or more classes in a row and may not have much time to talk. If you have any concerns you need to discuss at length, please leave a message in the office so he or she can call you later to discuss the matter.
PARKING
Paid parking is available at Kezar lot (entrance on Stanyan) and in the UCSF parking garage (entrance at Irving & 2nd Ave.); you can also find limited street parking.
AcroSports has many students and our business creates a lot of traffic. We ask you to please be considerate of our neighbors by not making u-turns in or blocking driveways, or double-parking out front.
Please use the white zone in front for drop off and pick up only, and make sure to
pull all the way to the curb when doing so
. Do not leave your car parked & unattended in this space, as it needs to be clear to ensure safe access for students.
DPT WILL ticket you if you park here
, as it is imperative, for everyone’s safety, that this area remain clear.
Strollers can be “parked” outside the building along the railing or near the lower entrance, however please do not leave them blocking the walkway or at the bottom of the stairs to the lower entrance.
